Experience with Word up to an intermediate level.

Objectives
To provide users with a greater understanding of Word, when creating and working with long documents.

Methodology
Group and individual instruction, hands on practical exercises, visual aids, comprehensive course documentation.

Competency Assessment

This will be issued to trainees upon commencement of training session.

Theory of Long Documents

  • What is a Long Document?
  • Pro’s and Con’s of Long Documents
  • Document Considerations
Sub Documents
  • Creating Sub Documents using Templates
  • Applying Styles to Sub Documents as required
Master Documents
  • Document set up (title pages, table of contents)
  • Inserting Sub Documents into Master

Formatting the Master
  • Headers and Footers (same throughout document or different for each section)
  • Page numbering (continuous or restarting for each section)
  • Create Table of Contents
  • Titles Page (formatted with Border, Logo or other Graphic)

Working with the Long Document
  • Following Hyperlink from Master to Sub Document
  • Updating Sub Documents without opening the Master
  • Expanding and collapsing Sub Documents within the Master
  • Updating the Table of Contents
  • Saving to a different location
